‘Shooting From The Bell Tower’ is the first taste of Emperors’ forthcoming sophomore album, and is the first new release since their highly acclaimed debut from 2012, ‘Stay Frosty’.

It’s another power-pop anthem rich in fuzzy guitars and vocal melodies, which mixes warm familiarity with a sound that is unmistakably Emperors. Lyrically, those looking for sub-text need look no further than the use of Perth’s iconic and often chastised Bell Tower as a symbol for the cultural ‘little man’ syndrome commonly found in the city the band calls home.

Since forming in 2010, Emperors’ have been unleashing their brand of unashamedly radio friendly indie-rock music that has seen them rack up support slots with Ash, The Breeders, Silversun Pickups, Japandroids, Sebadoh and Manic Street Preachers just to name a few. They’ve also toured Australia with the likes of Everclear and Grinspoon, in addition to numerous headline tours.

Add to that numerous appearances at Australian festivals such as the Big Day Out, Southbound, Rock-It (along with a slot at last year’s CMJ Music Marathon in NYC), and accolades including ‘US iTunes Song Of The Year’ and triple j feature album for ‘Stay Frosty’, a foundation has well and truly been set for the bigger and brighter things that lay before them with the release of their second album in 2014.
