Super Best Friends are a Canberra based trio that have been bashing out shout-along punk rock anthems for the better part of 5 years. They combine the ferocity and wit of Mclusky with the political and social awareness of Fugazi to produce two minute bursts of head banging goodness for the thinking music lover on a regular basis.

The Bestie Boys (as their fans lovingly refer to them) made international headlines recently for their single ‘Round & Round’. Lyrically sending-up the 24-hour-media cycle and the repetitive messages heard in an election campaign, the song’s video clip features current Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, former PM Kevin Rudd and a host of other male and female pollies dancing and singing along to the words. The irony wasn’t lost on the band when the video received 300,000 hits in a week and they found themselves at the centre of a viral media frenzy, being interviewed by BBC World TV and almost every commercial radio and television station in Australia.

It’s playing live though, where Super Best Friends have the most impact. This year alone the band have toured with the likes of Regurgitator, Calling All Cars and Born Lion, as well as make an appearance at the Fat As Butter Festival in Newcastle. Previous to that they’ve played with a who’s who of hard rock talent in Australia, including Birds Of Tokyo, Violent Soho and Regular John.

2014 will see the band record and release their debut album, and continue their journey to rock and roll glory as one of Australia’s finest socially aware punk rock exports.
